what category does the building crystal palace fall into for example gothic, greek revival, neo classical?

Built in 1851 it coincides with the later realist era of art and the early impressionists (assuming you are talking about the original in Hyde Park that is now burnt down) but it cannot be classed as any of these. It was for the world's first Great Exhibition that was designed to show off and celebrate British styles of architecture.
Impressionism and Realism can only REALLY be applied to art and sculpture rather than architecture, yet if you manage to find a term to describe how Crystal Palace was built to celebrate new materials being used (iron and glass) then that is probably the best anyone can come up with.
