Can I take out the Vixs Pure Tv capture Card?
When I first got my Gateway computer it came preinstalled with what appears to be a vixs tv capture card. Recently I installed a Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card to replace my weak 8500 GT card. But the 9600gt is so big its right on top of the vixs blocking the fan completely. This doesn't seem safe but the vixs card power connector (I suppose) goes up to the optic drives thus not seeing where to disconnect it. So I think that I need the vixs card but im not sure. So can Is it possible to take out the card or do I have to keep it there?
You should be able to remove it safely, if I had a picture of the situation I could further help you. It is a matter of safety for you 9800, because if the fan is blocked enough and the card can't get cool, then it could wind up getting burned out and thus broken which would suck.
If like you say a cord goes up the the optical drive, which I'm guessing would be a two stranded wire, usually red and white or black and white is just for audio and you should be able to unplug it from both or at least from the capture card, thus being able to remove the card.
Or it's a 4 wire molex connector which is used for power and runs into the psu, which you should still be able to unplug safely.
