Do Gold fish die if they have a plain bowl?
I just have some green marbles on the bottom but do they die if its just like plain and boring?
Not immediately, but a bowl is certainly no place for a goldfish.
Goldfish can be really big fish, and a bowl constricts them. The average bowl is say, 7 inches, but, in contrast, the average, unrestricted goldfish can be 7-12 in+! People may say that in their experience they stay small and don't seem uncomfortable, maintaining a good, healthy ''weight.'' There is a reason for this. When fish are kept in restricted conditions, they will be stunted, and won't grow. But there is something more serious. Even though the goldfishes skin and length won't change, their organs grow no matter what, eventually outgrowing the skin! The result is a severely bloated fish who is likely miserable with its suffering state, and will live a short, stunted life. Many goldfish meet such a fate because of the old, Americana, classic idea of the goldfish in the bowl, which, to most whom are inexperienced, seems totally normal. These can be great and entertaining fish, but it is important to keep them properly to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
