I THINK I HAVE A REALLY RARE PIGEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
it is a blue bar put it has a wierd looking hood and feather foot. I went to the show and i seen one just like it and he said it is really rare. It's could a shark sharlet... or something, and its a tumbler! so is this rare?
Shakhsharlis are great birds. I've never seen a blue shakhsharli (here's a link to some picshttp://www.racinghomers.com/tumblers.html ) and have never seen one with a crest -- my buddies have raised them over the years, but every one I've ever seen has been a bronze or black. I've seen blue and silver bar Syrian Coop Tumblers, but again with no crest.
Shakh's are a Syrian breed and at least in N. America they're a bit rare, but can be found at the major shows. I don't know how rare they are in the U.K. or Oz.
In Oz, you might want to check with the Australian National Pigeon Asso. http://spud1.50megs.com/ to see if anyone's brought them in and/or if they are sponsoring the breed. Just because of the crest, I have a hunch that if they're not mixed breed that you might have one of the Turkish Tumblers - check this site to view some shots of birds. http://www.turkishtumbler.com
You may also want to check out the Rare Variety Pigeon group at Yahoo Groups. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/rarevarietypigeonsociety/
The Rare Breed Club sponsors them in the U.S.

World Best Compost - How To Make Compost At Home
How to make compost at home can be fun and exciting especially if you are a person who loves gardening. A compost pile is what completes every garden. Compost is a product which results from the biological decomposition of organic wastes. Compost includes vegetables, yard and wood wastes, excluding painted, treated and plywood.

Composting is one way to reduce waste which end up in a landfill and at the same time provides a low cost, source of fertilizer for your garden. Soil is conditioned by compost, also mulch and fertilizer in one. Compost feeds the microorganisms in the soil that help plants to stay healthy, by adding nutrients to the soil, helps clay soil drain better and sandy soil retain water.
In making compost, you must choose a site where you can place your compost pile. It must be near your garden and kitchen. You can enclose compost in a simple wire column made from a 4-foot by 8-foot long piece of stiff wire mesh. Or you can buy a more permanent bin or build a three-bin compost system made from slatted wood or recycled pallets.
The compost is made up of two basic elements; the green garden debris (grass clippings) and the brown garden debris (dry leaves). The green ingredients are high in nitrogen while the brown materials are high in carbon. Don't add animal wastes, meats, oils dairy, diseased plants and plants that are treated with pesticides to your compost. The combination to use is one part green and two part brown materials to have a fast break down. Then add finished compost to the pile to enhance microbial activity.
There should be ample amount of moisture for compost to break down. Make sure that you turn the pile at least once a week to ensure airflow and decomposition continues. Compost should be done after two months. When you can't identify the original materials anymore then your compost are ready.

backhandspring trouble?
im 12 and im trying out for varsity cheerleading in a week and i'm having trouble with my backhandspring. i used to be an amazing tumbler when i was little, but i stopped and lost some of my talents. i have my backhandspring but i either bend my elbows and land on my feet, or straighten my elbows and land on my knees. also i have to have a mat near me. i wouldn't even use it, but there must be a mat in front of me. i have no idea why, but my body won't tumble without it. and i can dislocate my shoulders with or without force, so i get scared whenever i do my backhandspring cuz it popped out once and i broke my arm. thats the reason i bend my arms. tutorials dont work so if anyone can help me i'd like it alot.
Try bending your arms just slightly so you won't hurt your shoulder but so you can land on your feet. Practice doing handstand snap downs, which is where you do a handstand and keep your legs together and snap you legs down quickly. Doing those will help you land on you feet everytime. Do bridges and straighten you legs while keeping them together which will streghten your shoulders. If you have something wrong with your shoulder try going to physical therapy or ask if they make a brace for it.
good luck!
