what is the reason that sound can not pass through glass but light can pass assuming that light is of partical nature and sound is of wave nature.
Sound waves are longitudinal mechanical waves.
They are also pressure waves, which means that they propagate by alternately compressing and releasing the material medium in which they travel.
So the logical way to substantiate the statement would be to say that glass cannot be compressed and manipulated by the sound waves.
Hence sound waves cannot pass through glass.
Light particles (photons) are minute and can pass through the interstices in the structure of glass, Hence they can pass through glass.

Gluing broken glass light fixture?
Ok, So i have a glass light fixture that covers fluorescent bulbs. In the process of moving some things around in the process of remodeling, the glass was broken. A piece off the corner. Any ideas on gluing back together? the price of a replacement glass cover is as much as the brand new fixture.
Actually, it IS glass. Hence, the reason for the expense in replacing the broken part.
You can try some super glue.
