What were the most significant developments in italian theatre design in the renaissance?
Well, I think the most significant development in Italian theater design was the construction of theaters!
In medieval Italy no theaters has been built. Ancient Greeks and ancient Romans built the well known open theaters, but they were no more built in the middle ages.
The main theatrical representations at that time were:
* Sacred representations, inside churches or in the square just in front of the churches.
* Itinerant storytellers, jokers and musicians in open squares or inside the palaces of nobles.
* Elaborate shows inside the palaces of nobles. Sometimes the nobles, as a liberality act, let the people to enter the court of their palace to see these shows free of charge.
In Italian Renaissance the first permanent wooden theaters were built (since circa 1513).
