Would hot/cold liquid stay warm or cold longer in a ceramic mug or in a disposable cup?
Assume they both contain the exact same amount of volume, are of similar shape, and the opening at the top of the cup is also the same. Thanks!
If the disposable cup is the foam kind, it would keep the liquid warm/cold longer than the ceramic mug, because styrofoam (or whatever kind of foam that is) is an insulator. In other words, it is a much less efficient conductor of heat than ceramic.
If the disposable cup is paper or plastic, the ceramic mug would insulate better, and therefore the mug would keep the liquid warm/cold longer. Paper and plastic are also more insulating than ceramic, but the walls of paper or plastic cups are so much thinner than the wall of a ceramic mug that the mug would retain heat better. Insulation depends on the thickness of the insulator, as well as the kind of material.

What kind of coffee mug / cup is this?
I'm trying to figure out what style of coffee mug/cup this ( http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3186sd9.jpg ) is. I heard it might have been invented by a person in the Coast Guard because its very hard to tip over. It has a narrow neck and a wide bottom / base. I'm trying to figure out more about this coffee mug style.
If anyone can help me out, that would be great!

It is just plainly called wide base coffee mug if you google this alot of sites come up hope this helps.
