what is the difference between art deco and art nouveau?
i like the look of both, but cannot tell a difference between the two.
Hi~ I believe Art Nouveau was the early 1900's~ Titanic era, and has more curvy, sultry lines... lots of carved women or pics of women. (I like Mucha's art) Art deco was more in the 30's, using more shapes.. triangles, half moons, etc. Lots of art deco buildings and furnishings. I would do a search for both on ebay and I think you'll start to see the difference in the items for sale. It really gets confusing, as the arts and crafts movement is in there too.. like closing the gap between the two.
