What are the disadvantages to having a 4 piece drum set?
Like what are the disadvantages to having just 1 mounted tom instead of two? How much does it limit you?
I wouldn't say it limits you at all. I've been playing drums for 14 years and switch between 4, 5, and 6 piece kits fairly often. It just depends on your style and what you want to play. There are times when a second tom can really help, but it all just depends. If you're looking to buy, I would suggest going for at least a five piece, you can always dismount or simply ignore the extra tom.
