Can the city make me take down art in my front window?
I have an art piece hanging in the front window of my apartment. It was done with paint, spray paint, and photography. My landlord's lackey just came and told me I would have to take it down because somebody complained. This seems very wrong for someone to tell you what you can and cannot have in your own home. I was wondering if this was just the landlord trying to get me to take it down, or if there was an actual law against art in windows. I don't even know where to begin looking for this information. I live in Lakewood, Ohio.
Check your lease. It may say that you can not display things in your windows.
I highly doubt there would be a city ordinance about art where you live. It would be all about the landlord and any neighbor who may have complained.
